Community-based Tourism (Private Service)

This tour will begin by gather the participants from their hotels, then the group will drive along the route that takes us to Cusco and Puno; passing through Yura town and observing the sprawl that has taken over the city of Arequipa.

We will start the itinerary with the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, where we will see wild vicuña freely running; several years ago these animals came close to extinction by indiscriminate hunting that is now prohibited. The group will reach the top of this visit at an altitude of 4200 m in the famous Volcanoes Viewpoint; from here it is easy to have a real prospective of the Cordillera de los Andes. Then, we will begin the descent to one of the most successful and beautiful valleys of Arequipa, the Colca Valley; fields of crops and warm people will greet along its windy path.

We will follow the road towards the village of Yanque, where we will meet the inhabitants of this picturesque village; we will settle in their houses and have lunch together. In the afternoon, we will begin a short walk through the most interesting attractions of this colourful and interesting place: archaeological remains UYU- UYU the known Colcas that were used as natural refrigerators in the Colca river bank and finally a dip in the hot springs on the banks River; a complete experience!

After dinner, we will visit the Casa Museo de Yanque in Mr. Gerardo Huaracha´s house to learn the stories and traditions that are only known by people from here.

After breakfast on the next day, we will take the path leading us to the Condor Viewpoint and you will have time to stroll through this area and appreciate this gigantic and majestic bird crossing the second deepest canyon in the world. With our luggage, we will travel an hour to our next destination, Sibayo town; where we will the landscape will change to more barren and dry. Lunch will be served in the village of Sibayo, along with their residents who are prepared to receive visitors interested in their culture. In the afternoon, you may stroll through the area and learn more about this town through participating in one of the free cultural knowledge activities such as fishing for trout or practicing dances.

After breakfast on the third day, we will return to the city of Arequipa, convinced that this trip has broadened our perspectives and shown a different side of these beautiful places in the Colca Canyon.
